Levi Updyke has been practicing law for over fifteen years with a primary focus on subrogation matters. Levi has managed cases from inception through resolution, including mediation and arbitration. He has primarily focused his litigation efforts in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania but has served as Pro Hac Vice counsel nationwide. He has recovered in excess of ten million dollars for clients and worked with leading forensic experts throughout the country.
Prior to joining Dodd DelCollo, Levi handled claims for one of the world’s largest insurers where he would assist in identifying potential subrogation claims on large files, prepare and file arbitration proceedings and determine if litigation was necessary. In addition, Levi practiced at one of New Jersey’s leading law firms. He has experience handling a wide variety of subrogation claims including negligence, construction, premises liability, product defects, auto liability, contract and warranty claims. He has handled both small losses and multi-million dollar claims. Levi also has experience in federal and bankruptcy courts as well.
Levi is a member of the National Association of Subrogation Professionals (NASP) and has authored materials published by NASP. He is also a member of the New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania bar associations.
REPRESENTATIVE MATTERS
- Successfully recovered nearly one million dollars in a products liability matter regarding a defective dehumidifier that caught fire to Insured’s residence.
- Recovered numerous large recoveries against one of the most notorious bathroom fan manufacturers due to product defects.
- Recovered large settlement with one of the most well-known foreign luxury auto manufacturers due to a defect in their automobile that led to a fire which caused extensive damage to the home.
- Recovered numerous large recoveries against one of the most notorious dryer manufacturers for a product defect that led to numerous fires.
- Recovered numerous recoveries against leading dishwasher manufacturers for defective products that led to fires and flood damages.
- Recovered a large settlement against one of the largest cell phone manufacturers for a cell phone batter that caused a fire in a home.
- Recovered numerous settlements from negligent contractors and other parties who caused and/or contributed to negligence lawsuits.
- Handled an appeal for a large NJ client.
- Recovered a large recovery against a homeowner’s insurance policy when homeowner’s son (age of majority and living with homeowner) was operating a moonlighting business as a contractor and performed repairs to our client’s home which caused a substantial fire. We resolved the matter with the homeowner’s carrier to avoid suit with a very favorable outcome when there ultimately would not have been a recovery.
- Recovered large favorable settlement against a hoverboard manufacturer that malfunctioned and caused a fire in our client’s insured’s home.
- Recovered numerous settlements against a defective toilet supply line manufacturer.
- Recovered numerous settlements against various product manufacturers that caused fire and floods to our insured’s property.
- Handled worker’s compensation subrogation matters primarily in NJ on matters up to one million dollars.
- Handled investigation and litigation of a large loss involving a fatality and numerous parties against a leading NJ power company and numerous product manufacturers.
